Harvard Africa Development Conference 2023
As the Co-Chair of the Africa Caucus, Chiedza relaunched the Africa Development Conference after a three year hiatus in a partnership between Harvard Kennedy School and the Harvard Law School.
The Africa Development Conference (ADC) is the premier conference for facilitating global discourse on Africa’s developmental issues. It is an annual collaborative event organized by students of African descent and those interested in Africa at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Law School.
Under Chiedza's leadership, together with her Co-Chairs the Africa Caucus relaunched the Africa Development Conference after a three-year hiatus. The 2023 ADC's theme was , “Reimagining Africa’s Growth on Our Terms,” a call for Africa to dare to imagine and create wealth for the continent on Africa’s terms. Africa should no longer be at the mercy of the rest of the world in thinking about its growth strategy. The conference featured 10 panels discussing how Africa can thrive in international trade, challenges and opportunities in transitioning to a green economy, education, the role of creative arts in development, the Africa we want, and other engaging topics with over 30 influential speakers from the continent.
The keynote was the Vice President of Ghana, His Excellency Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia who spoke on the unique opportunities of the continent and the need for Africa to rebrand, reinvent and reposition on the global market as a partner of choice.
